Each day, TSN.ca provides the latest rumours, reports and speculation from around the NFL beat. Missing Time San Francisco 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree will miss one to two weeks with an injury , coach Jim Harbaugh announced on Friday. Harbaugh refused to detail the injury, but said it was not related to the Achilles injury that sidelined Crabtree until Week 13 of last season. Of the inury, Harbaugh simply stated Crabtree was "working through something." In five regular season games last season, Crabtree caught 19 passes for 284 yards and one touchdown. He caught 15 passes for 203 yards in three playoff games. The news comes just two days after quarterback Colin Kaepernick told the media that Crabtree was a "a step or two quicker" than last year. The 49ers lost running back Kendall Hunter for the season already with a training camp injury and will be without running back LaMichael James for roughly month after he suffered a dislocated elbow. Great Expectations According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, the Green Bay Packers are counting on 2013 first-round Datone Jones to start at defensive end this season. Jones, selected 26th overall, is coming off a disappointing and injury-plagued rookie season with the Packers. The UCLA product managed just 10 tackles, however showed strong moments as he managed 3.5 sacks. The Packers base defensive will likely consist of Jones and Mike Daniels at the defensive end positions with B.J. Raji at nose tackle. Time for Teddy? Chip Scoggins of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune "wouldnt be surprised" if Teddy Bridgewater opens the season as the Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback. According to Scoggins, the coaching staff sounds willing to let Bridgewater start if he beats out Matt Cassel for the job in the preseason. The Vikings traded back into the first round of this years NFL Draft to select Bridgewater with the 32nd overall pick. Cassel threw for 1,807 yards last season with 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 9 games (six starts) with the Vikings last season. Former first-round draft pick Christian Ponder is the third quarterback in camp with the Vikings, though he appears to be ruled out of starting competition. Still Out New Orleans Saints wide receiver Kenny Stills has not practiced since suffering a quad injury on July 25. Coming off an impressive rookie season in which he posted 641 yards and five touchdowns, Stills is fighting for a starting position in the Saints offence. In his absence, first-round pick and Brandin Cooks and third-year receiver Nick Toon are enjoying added snaps. Head coach Sean Payton told reporters on Thursday that Toon is having a "fantastic camp." Long Return St. Louis Rams left tackle Jake Long took part in team drills in practice on Thursday. Long is making his way back from tearing both his MCL and ACL in Week 15 of last season, in his first year with the Rams. Long signed a four-year, $34 million contract with the Rams prior to 2013 season. He was drafted first-overall by the Miami Dolphins in the 2008 NFL Draft. Bolstering the Line The Arizona Cardinals signed tackle Max Starks on Friday, adding depth to their offensive group. Starks appeared in two games with the St. Louis Rams last season. The 32-year-old, who stands at 6-8, 345 pounds, was selected in the third round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
